and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

A Final Fairwell Waggon & Horses
James Anthony Burns "JIMMY"
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
James Anthony Burns " Jimmy " Died peacefully whist in hospital on 11th February 2006, Jimmy was well known in withington and had many friends and family, Jimmy was one of 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Chris, Steve, Peter, Gary, Micheal, and Graham, sisters Nora & Linda. Dad Chris and Mum Late Margaret Burns, Son James and Daughter Kelly.
The Mass was held at St Kentigerns in Fallowfield manchester, The funeral was headed with a beautiful horse drawn carrage and a hurst just to carry the many flowers that so many people had sent, The carraged headed off towards Yew Tree Road to were Jimmy used to sit on a bench in Withington Village, The carrage paused for a few moments to pay respects, onlookers and Jimmys friends had gathered at His favorite place in Withington as a mark of thier deepest respect . Arriving at Southen Cemetary to be greeted by more of Jimmy's friends and more flowers, You could only be proud, Jimmy had one of the best send offs i have ever seen . The Family would like to take this moment to thank every one who attended the funeral and for the beautiful flowers and sympathy cards and lovely thoughts. At the mass i listened to the preist who was taking about Jimmy and the things he got up to when He was on earth, Jimmy was a keen gardener and used to own an allotment, He was a proud man and had transformed many gardens and even bulit ponds in them so he could add fish, i remember Him doing His Dads garden with a pond and fish, His Mum & Dad loved it, Jimmy was also a windows cleaner and was given a nickname, The Priest said it but i have forgotten it. Young James had told the Priest that James was given last rights three times, the preist was amazed by this and said this was God's will as Jimmy was a fighter in life and a fighter at the end, Jimmy was never a bad person and was always there to help anyone in need. He worked as a binman for many years and used to always bring some televisons and radios home for me, i would repair them and make some money and i would share it with Jim and some times we would go out for a drink, me & Jimmy , Jeannie and Linda or we would babysit for them, You would always feel welcome at Jimmy's house. Jimmy spent a lot of time at His Mother in Laws, Marjorie & Billys and kept great friends with them when he was going through bad times. Later on in Jimmys life he made friends with street people and would sit and have a drink with them on a bench in Withington, You would always see Jimmy when visiting the Village to do shopping, He would let on and wave and smile, In His way he was letting us now He was alright, Nobody could have known He was suffering, He was a brave man, a fighter until the very end. Linda used to go to the Village regular to see if he was alright, he would always fob Her off with " i'm alright don't worry about me " but she did, Bless her. We had not seen Jimmy for weeks so Linda went to see if she could find Him, She finally found Him at a local address were He was sick, His feet had swelled up again so She and Her Dad took Him straight to hospital where He remained comfortabley until he deteriorated a few weeks later and finaly passed away. The family stayed at the hospital by His side until he drifted away.
God Bless you Jimmy Burns and may He Rest in Peace for ever and ever , Heaven awaits you Jim where your spirit will flow the the many beautiful gardens of Heaven Above!
